Find Local Resealing in Bakewell

Generally, a high-quality impregnating sealer lasts between 1 to 5 years. This varies heavily based on the type of cleaner you use (harsh chemicals strip sealers faster) and the amount of foot traffic or water exposure the area receives.

Perform the "water drop test." Place a few drops of water on the grout line. If the water beads up and sits on the surface, your seal is good. If the grout darkens immediately and absorbs the water, it is time for a grout sealing service.

Sealing significantly increases reaction time. It does not make a surface "stain-proof," but it makes it "stain-resistant." It holds the contaminant at the surface level, giving you ample time to wipe it up before it permanently discolours the grout.

Yes. Most new grout is porous and unsealed when installed. To keep it looking new and prevent "picture framing" (water soaking into the tile edges), it should be sealed once the new installation has fully cured (usually after 72 hours).

Most penetrating sealers are dry to the touch within a few hours. However, we typically recommend keeping the area dry and avoiding heavy foot traffic for at least 24 hours to allow the sealer to fully cure and bond with the material.

Because showers are exposed to hot water, steam, and scrubbing, we recommend shower tile sealing every 12 to 24 months to ensure the substrate remains protected against moisture buildup.
