If you believe a business you connected with through ServiceTasker is acting dishonestly or attempting to scam you, it’s important to act quickly to protect yourself. While most businesses on ServiceTasker are genuine and verified, we take any reports of suspicious or fraudulent behaviour seriously.
1. Stop communication and payments
If something doesn’t feel right, stop engaging with the business immediately and do not make any further payments. Avoid agreeing to additional work or paying money outside of what was originally discussed.
2. Review what was agreed
Check any quotes, messages, or agreements exchanged through ServiceTasker. Make sure the business is not requesting payment or changes that differ from what you originally agreed to. Unexpected requests for urgent payments or pressure to move off-platform can be warning signs.
3. Gather evidence
Keep records of all interactions, including:
- Messages sent through ServiceTasker or externally
- Quotes, invoices, or receipts
- Screenshots or notes of any suspicious behaviour
Having clear evidence will help us investigate the issue properly.
4. Contact ServiceTasker support immediately
If you suspect a scam, please report it to our support team as soon as possible so we can investigate.
- Email: support@servicetasker.com.au
- Phone: 0481 614 490
When contacting us, include:
- The business name
- A brief explanation of what happened
- Any supporting messages, invoices, or screenshots
If a business is found to be breaching our policies, we may restrict or remove them from the platform.
5. Report to relevant authorities if needed
If you believe you’ve been scammed or suffered financial loss, you may also wish to report the matter to:
- Scamwatch (Australian Government)
- ACCC
- Your state consumer protection agency
- Local law enforcement, if appropriate
6. Monitor your financial accounts
If you’ve already made a payment, keep an eye on your bank or card statements for any unauthorised activity. Contact your financial institution immediately if something looks suspicious.
